Show Aged Oasis Mother Dies Friday In Salt Lake City Mrs. Mary Jane Nichols, aged 82, mother of David Nichols, of Oasis, died Friday in Salt Lake City at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Althea Hansen, of causes incident in-cident to age. Mrs. Nichols was born in Capetown, Cape-town, Africa, a daughter of John and Mary Day Boune, June 30, 1865. She came to the United States as a child of 6 years. She was married in 1881 to Joshua E. Nichols, and the family home was made at Fillmore. Mr. Nichols died and was buried there in April, 1933. For the past eight years, Mrs. Nichols has made her home with her children. Surviving are two sons, David Nichols, Oasis, and Wells Nichols, Tendoy, Idaho; four daughters, Mrs. Josie Williams, Salmon, Idaho, Mrs. Althea Hansen, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Echo Jenkins and Mrs. Florence Flor-ence Turner, both of Black foot, Idaho; 29 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held ni the Oasis ward chapel on Tuesday at 12 noon, conducted by Lawrence Cropper, first counselor in the lish-opric. lish-opric. Peter H. Peterson, bishop gave a sketch of the life of Mrs. Nichols, and opening prayer was offered by Clark H. Bishop. Music was given by the quartette, quar-tette, "My Father Knows," by Mr. and Mrs. Clark Bishop, Evelyn Hawley and Layton Bishop, accompanied ac-companied by Inga Peterson. The first speaker was T. Clark Callister of Fillmore. A trio, Louie Black, Ar-vetta Ar-vetta Nickle-and Betty Colby sang "That Wonderful Mother of Mine", accompanied by Laurel Anderson, which was followed by a talk by Bishop Peter H. Peterson. "Sometime, Somewhere," a duet by Evelyn Hawley. and La Veda Bishop, accompanied by Mrs. Peterson Peter-son followed, and benediction was given by Enoch Gillen. . Burial was in the cemetery at Fillmore under the direction of L. N. Nickle and Sons, where the grave was dedicated by Bishop Von Taylor. |
