A Hart president of the Alumni association told th the au audience audience audi audi- i- i ence that he was the ninth engineer engineer engineer engi engi- neer to hold that office annually in inthe inthe inthe the last nine years Mr Hart said that the alumni were behind the students in their effort to make a bigger and better university Student Student Student Stu Stu- Stu- Stu dent body president Elton Pace spoke in capacity of Engineers Engineer's president in thanking the administration administration adminis adminis- for their confidence in the Engineers in allowing them to include in include in- in clude the ground-breaking ground ceremonies ceremonies ceremonies ies in their program of Engineers' Engineers week Pace Pace told the authorities that he hoped that the new building building building build build- ing and equipment would inspire the future engineering students to taking better care of it than has been done in the past Dr H. H T. T Plumb in speaking for the citizens of the State of Utah pledged their support of student projects He H expressed the desire for greater in intimacy intimacy intimacy in- in and cooperation between the people and the university in pushing push push- pushing ush- ush ing such projects as the Engineers building Queen Florence Bauer pronounced ed her final benediction upon the engineers and the ground-breaking ground event which followed immediately Music was furnished by the University University University Uni Uni- band and the first of dirt was heralded by a salu salute e of four cannon shots by the R. R 0 T. T C. C gunners Friday afternoon the various Engineering laboratories gave exhibitions exhibitions ex ex- and demonstrations of their their work york to a large number of visitors The banquet held Thursday evening evening evening eve eve- ning at the school cafeteria was attended by about students and alumni The silver l loving ving I cup which was given for the best number number num nurn- ber on the program was won by bythe bythe bythe the Mining Engineers with their song After the banquet Mr Plumb gave an illustrated lecture on light which according to all present was most interesting and instructive Engineers' Engineers week culminated with witha a dance at the Granada ball room Frid Friday y evening |
