The measures taken by the railroads in mobilizing mob-ilizing a reserve force of workes, the efforts ef-forts of State officials in listing all volunteers volun-teers for emergency work, and the activity acti-vity of army officers in taking a census of former railroad men in their commands, com-mands, were a potent factor in preventing prevent-ing a tieup of our transportation lines.
