Show PRIZE WINNERS AWARDED BY THE COMMITTEE When tho committco and tho president pres-ident of tho Commercial club, tho Mayor of Logan, and tho city board of education as well as many other cltlzons heard the supervisor's summary sum-mary of the gardens of tho Logan Uurden club, Friday evening In the tabernacle, thoy wero at ouco convinced con-vinced that a good investment had been mado nnd that a most worthy and Important movement had been started. Tho nummary showed that tho total value of tho crops amounted amount-ed to ?1D,03G.Q0. Also that 200 had joined tho club last spring and 185 had finished with high scores Tor tho movement, tho Commercial club took tho lnltlatlvo and contrlbut-$200, contrlbut-$200, tho city board of education $200, and tho city $150. Tho total cost of tho organization was about $050, and tho returns are $10,036.00. Tho educational valuo Is not included includ-ed as that cannot bo measured in dol-lurs dol-lurs and cents, but still Is perhaps tho most real worth. Much credit Is duo tho merchants as they offorod many valuablo prizes, and theso actod as a stimulus and kept up tho enthusiasm throughout tho soason and caused a full utilization utiliza-tion of tho ground nnd tho crops. In Mr. Nichols' roport It is suggested sug-gested that government seeds not be used, ns many times thoy will not germinate, that for Logan, tho navy and pinto beans wero not tho best variety to plant, that somo of tho gardens wero ovor-lrrlgalod and Irrigated Irri-gated to early, somo aro run down and need moro fertilizer, that good seed potatoes should always bo used and bo troated, and that tho gardons In appearanco and production wero In proportion to tho Interest taken by tho parents. Mayor Iloy Ilullin, Tresidont R. n. Owen of tho Commercial club, Dr. Georgo n. Hill, Mr. Chas, England of tho city school board, and Goo. D. Cardon mado short spoeches in faror of the movement and congratulated tho members of tho club for what they had accomplished. Mr. Cardon showed why there should bo supervised super-vised play as well as supervised work. At tho closo of tho meeting the prizes wero distributed.
