Show " , ' "",' ir So The People May Know Statement of the Non-Partisan Candidates j We stand for the principles and ideals upon which ! thcNon-Partisan movement was founded: ; To give Logan City a clean, progressive, business- i like, substantial administration. To conduct the uf- ' fairs of office in a non-partisan manner, with justice to all and favors to none, irrespective of creed, race, or politics. During the past four years the city has practically solved its water supply, and paving problems. Our policy shall be to continue to extend the water distribution distri-bution system until every family in the town is provided pro-vided with the city water. Sidewalks, curbs and gutters, street paving and sewers should be extended upon the streets of the city where a majority of the abutting property owners own-ers desire such improvements; but such extensions should not be forced upon the people unless the owners of at least one-half of the frontage abutting the street is ready for the improvement. e In common with other independent and progressive progress-ive citizens, we appreciate the saving to tin people of the many thousands of dollars by our electric light plant. Within the last two years upwards of $25,-000.00 $25,-000.00 has been expended by the city in reconstruction of electric distribution lines, so that at the present time a very large part of the distribution is' new permanent per-manent improvement. On account of the growth of the city and the increased in-creased use and demand for electric power during the last fifteen years, the capacity of the plant is not equal to the demands of the city, and in the near future steps will have to be taken to acquire more power and to reconstruct and enlarge the plant. When that matter is undertaken, we believe that all available information should be collected, and plans, specifications and estimates prepared, and the whole problem submitted to the people.. We believe the mere adoption of the non-partisan movement, has proved, in itself, to be a local civic awakening, and that every organization within the city should be encouraged in the development of civic pride, and its co-operation solicited by the city in the promotion of any improvement, development, or function in which it is particularly fitted to give aid. We have in mind the Commercial Boosters Club, the Church Organizations, the Colleges, the Lodges, the Women's Clubs, and all other similar organizations. organiza-tions. A striking example of what such co-operation will accomplish is well illustrated by the results obtained ob-tained by the Boys and Girls Garden Club, in which 185 boys and girls produced $19,036.90 worth of garden stuff, to say nothing of the development of wholesome occupation for children. This enterprise was promoted and supervised by the joint co-operation of the City Commission, the Mutuals and the Commercial Boosters Club at a total cost of $600. Be believe in the motto of one of the best cities in America, "THE WELFARE OF ALL IS THE ULTIMATE UL-TIMATE GOAL OF THE COMMUNITY." ROY BULLEN, RAY B. WEST, WM. H. LARSEN, (Pad Advertisement) |
