The ninth annual exhibition of the work of tho Utah artists will be held by tho Art Department of theJUtah Agricultural College at Logan from January 22 to February 3. This exhibition, ex-hibition, which has grown from an attendance of a fow hundred during its first year, to an attendance of over 4000 nt Its last exhibit, comprises com-prises tho best work of all Utah artists ar-tists of note. Hold, ns it Is, during tho great Farmers' Round-up and Housekeepers' Conference week, it is enabled to appeal to a largo and varied class of Utah's population The authorities look upon the annual an-nual exhibition as a most Important educational feature of their farmers' and housekeepers' week. Tho artists of Utah hav long recognized re-cognized tho great opportunity thus offered to plnco boforo tho people of tho stato their best work. The slzo of tho exhibition has grown until un-til It now comprises work in arts, crafts, paintings, sculpture and architecture. ar-chitecture. In ndditlon, last year, under tho direction of tho Extension Division of tho Collego, a handicrafts exhibit wns organized. This exhibit will form nn Important part of tho exhibition this year. Work will be displayed In various handicrafts from nil parts of tho state. Utah Is particularly blessed with handicraft handi-craft workers, and this annual exhibit ex-hibit will greatly aid tho Extension Division In Its efforts to organize the workers so thnt through co-opora-tlon they may bo able better to mar-1 kot their products. Prof. L. II. Bailey, agricultural expert of International Inter-national fame, stated in a recent address ad-dress delivered in Salt Lake City, that "no ono thing Is ns great an asset to a community as the handicraft handi-craft workers." It is hoped eventually, event-ually, to hold n similar exhibit yearly year-ly In every county In Utah. On tho afternoon of Wednesday, January 31, an Informnl reception will bo held in connection with the Art Exhibit, with tho U. (. C. Woman's Wo-man's club and tho Faculty Woman's League as hostesses. All friends of tho College aro Invited to nttend. Special music will bo furnished by tho Music Department of tho Institution Insti-tution under tho direction of Prof. Johnson. |
