College News V. ! ; Commencing Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, with n complimentary complimen-tary performance for tho aged people fo Cacho valley, the opera company of Cacho valley, tho opera company sents tho "Yankee Consul." Tho month of careful and enthusiastic practice under tho ahlo direction of Professor W. O. Kohlnsan, In the singing nnd stago management, and Miss Florence Carlisle In tho ballet, substantiates tho early Indications that the opera would surpass all previous pre-vious performances of tho B. Y. College Col-lege Opera company. Taken as a whole the principals are a little stronger thun In previous years. Thay have, as n whole, had a little more training and experience. Tho ballet, too, havo had tho advantage of inoro years of training nnd experlenco In tho vaudevilles, pageants, etc., that have become popular at tho collego In club and class activities during tun last few years. A now set of stage scenery has been prepared, and costumes cos-tumes obtained from San Frnncl3co. This will add very much to tho effect because operas are expected to bo pretty, nnd tho B. Y. C.'s operas havo so far nevor been lacking In this regard. The schedulo of performances Is: Thursday, March 22, 2:30 p. in., Nlbley hall;, complimentary to tho old folks. Thursday, March 22, 8:15 p. m., Nlbley hall; B. Y. C. students and public. Friday, March 23, 8:15 p. m Nlbley Nlb-ley hall; students nnd public; usual reduction given to U. A. C. studentE on Friday. Saturday, March 24, Wellsvllle. Monday, March 2G, LewlBton. Tuesday, March 27, Smlthfleld. Wednesday, March 28, Preston. Friday, March 30, Brlgham City. There will probably bo a performance perform-ance In Ogden, nnd as two nights havo nevor sufficed for tho Logan people who desire to como, ono might possibly expect another performnnco nt Nlbley hall, although no arrangements arrange-ments have so far been mado. Tho Brlgham Young Collego Do-battng Do-battng team was successful In defeating de-feating tho Weber academy team In tho debate on Saturday evening. Tho debato was n good ono although tho attendanco was not what tho year' enthusiasm In debntlng seemed to promise. Tho team from tho Weber was small, but they had tho goods and gavo tho B. Y. C. team n hard run. But the B. Y. C. debaters wore, cool and logical, having their materl- al well In hand and deserved tho 1 victory that was awarded to thorn. i LoRoy Han3cn was there with his usual clear arguments and delivery. Mabel Law was logical, clear and rather better thnn usual In delivery Arrangements aro being mado to aid nature in the removal of tho two feet of snow from tho tennis courts. This ought to enable tho sports to get on tho couits n week or two earlier earli-er than otherwise. Advertised Letters f ? Lognn, Utnh, March 17, 1917. Holt, Miss Edyth M.
