Show AUTO OWNERS TO HELP GIVE CREDIT FOR "HEAP UIO MILEAGE" MILE-AGE" TO SAVAGE WORKMEN' In a recent Interview, Mr. H. N. Mabery, secretary and 'treasurer of the Savage Tiro Corporation, outlined out-lined a new and rather unique plan to secure the maximum of careful construction In tho Savage plant. In an advertisement soon to appear In all publications In which Savage Tire advertising Is running, tiro users am asked to report cases of exceptionally exceptional-ly good mileage given by Savage I tires. They are requested to end the serial number on nny tiro that has given a servlco of 7,000 miles of more. According to Mr. Mabery, a big percentage of Savo tires sold, glvo at least this length of servlco. No class of people appreciate good service ser-vice more 'than the auto owner and none Is moro prompt In placing credit cred-it whero credit Is due. "It may bo expected that some tiro users will not report, but wo can count upon the co-operation of most, and are confident that wo shall havo a hlg number of Heap Big Mileage reports. Owners who get 10,000 or 12,000 miles of service will, almost without exception, bo Interested In seolng that tho fellows on whoso good work this service so largoly depends, aro given credit for It." Mr. Mabery continued, "Like most of the big tiro companies, wo havo for some time, employed tho system of holding workmen responsible for mistakes or for poor construction. Whenever a Savage tiro failed to glvo a proper mileage, the workman responsible re-sponsible for it has been called to the carpet In a way that Is not soon torgotton. TJhls method has worked ?QM fairly woll, so we cast about for fitter method. No expenso has been spared to provide tho bost factory fac-tory equipment for our plant. Tho j highest class of materials possible are always purchased. Workmon have beon told tlmo and tlmo again tnat their best efforts aro nono too good for Savage customers. Thoy have been askod to really got Savage Quality, and It seomod hardly Just to censure thorn for falling, without giving due consideration for tho good ork they are doing. "Wo 'havo therefore, decided to 9 keep a record of all tires that bIvo specially good mileage, and to boo that the workmen who have to do with the building of such tires, receive re-ceive full credit. To all car owners who report Heap Dig Mileage, ve will give an Inner tube patch free of charge, which will servo as an acknowledgement ac-knowledgement of the receipt of each Individual report. This will probably probab-ly cover the cost of tho roport. It Is not our Intention to pay for these reports, because wo know that wo couldn't buy them, but we aro counting count-ing on tho sportsmanship of car owners, own-ers, and we bellevo that wo can do so to the limit. We keep a careful record of every tire and tubo that Is built. This record Is keyed to tho serial number. Our factory is de-partmentlzed de-partmentlzed so that only two or threo men are responsible for each tire and tube. Wo can always tell who should receive tho credit for tho extra mileage reported." |
