Show politics and things over :m millville Charles Anderson Ascends To The Presidency Of The Town MILLVILLE, Nov. 1C. There Is one item of news from this town that fceoins to have been overlooked by the scribe from hero nnd as it Is an Item of considerable merit. It should be given publicity. On the Cth of the month an olec-tlon olec-tlon waH held here and the political complexion of Millville was completely com-pletely upset. For Instance, our old faithful president ot tho town hoard. John Johnson, was defeated for reelection re-election by Charles Anderson, who was elated on tho Cltlrons' ticket Mr. Anderson was duly nominated to run for tho office on tho Citizens' ticket at n meeting that was called by tho president of tho town hoard. Howover, thoro wero thoso among us who wero not satisfied with this choice, and although Mr. Johnson had bt-en zoning tho town a3 a Republican Re-publican and haB always boon known as a staunch Jlopubllcan, havtiiK fought the fights for tho good old O. O. V. for many years, ho was pro-valled pro-valled upon by his DomocratH friends to head tho Democratic ticket tick-et and promised thoir undivided sup- ' port, and overybody knows that MIH- villo haB a majority of Democratic votes, jot they failed at the last election elec-tion nnd for somo reason or other, left Brother Johnson minus a few votes of being re-elected, and also without a party. This may seem sad but never tho less It is true. Shamo bo on the heads of tho leaders ot tho Democratic party or Millville for such actions, It men of tho standing of the leaders of the Democratic party are going to persuade a man to leave his paity to accept a nomination, then tho least they could do Is to stand bo-hind bo-hind that man nnd see that he is given a sijuare deal. Tho new members of the town board are as follows: Charles Anderson, president. J. V. E. Scott. Joseph S. Jeshop, Martin Ols-on and Aaron Pearson A SUUSCIllBHK. |
