' The girl first learns tho Bources and methods of production of food. This is followed by studies In selection, storage, preparation and serving ot food, the latter tak'en up trom the standpoint, such as preparing tasteful taste-ful and attractlvo dishes and setting the .table attractively. Taught How to Clothe Herself Under the socond head, that of clothing, clo-thing, the subject Is taught from an artistic, physical and economic stand point. The girl learns how to select beautiful clothing, and clothing that is becoming as well as serviceable. The physical side teaches her to value clothing from a hygienic point of view. The economic side teaches her to choose her materials wisely and to, buy tho best for the least money. Hero a consideration of textiles Is a great help to her in selecting unadulterated, unadul-terated, genuine fabrics and judging the utility and quality ot materials. The girl Is also taught to make her own clothes, thus reducing tho cost of her garments very materially. How to Arrange Dwelling Shelter covers the third and last division. The word shelter conveys the Idea ot a home, including warmth safety and covering. , The girl learns how to choose the most favorable location; which includes in-cludes environments, elevation and sanitary conditions. The furnishing of her home is emphasized. The furnishing fur-nishing and selection of materials to place in her home, the decoration and arrangement ot the rooms, their relative re-lative position to each other; also how to arrange them so as to obtain tho best light, and lastly, the studies of the investment of expenditures for, her house and household administration, administra-tion, which teaches her how to man-ago man-ago the home. The girl learns to consider the kitchen kit-chen as a laboratory in which sho carries out Interesting experiments, rather than as a workshop in which work becomes labor and drudgery. Chemistry helps her to understand c&ubo and effect. Sho looks on life with a keener Interest and realizes that the body is composed ot elements combined chemically; that the food sho takes into" her body undergoes chemical changes before the tissues are able to assimilate it, and that her very environment is chemical.
