Show SPANISH STEAMER . IH COLLISION WITH CRUISER DESCARTES i New York, Oct. 24. Ofllcers of the Spanish steamer Tclesfora, which arrived ar-rived here yesterday from Buenos Ayrcs reported that the steamer was In collision with the French cruder Descartes in tho harbor of Castries, St. Lucia, on October C. Tho cruiser was badly Injured, according to tho olllccrs, and had to bo taken to Martinique for repairs. Tho collision occurred ns tho Tclesfora, Tcles-fora, was entering tho harbor, Iter ofllcers said. They did not seo tho Descartes until un-til the cruiser was dead nhead. The steamer's onglnea wero Immediately reversed and sho let drop her anchor. Her momentum, however, was too great and she crashed at high speed full into tho worship. A boat was low ored from tho cruiser and two of her ofllcers boarded the Bteamer. They, wore very angry; theTelesfora's captain cap-tain feared they would beat him. After a long and bltler:wrangle thi officers went away and theTelesfdni was made to give a bond to make good the cruisers repairs before she was permitted to continue on her trip to Boston and New York.'
