AMERICAN NEWSPAPER CORRESPONDENTS ARE DETAINED IN EUROPE New York, Sept. 9. The Associated Associat-ed Press Is In receipt ot advices under un-der date of Soptember 8 that five 'American newspaper correspondents are under detention by the German military authorities at Alx la Chap-fello. McCutcheon and James O'Donnel Bennett of tho Chicago Trlbuno and Harry Hanson' of tho Chicago Dally News . Tho men are not In confinement and aro being well trented. Thoy nro, however, under close Burvlollnnce and are not permitted to leave the cltjj or to send nows becauso they havo been with tho German troops. The, correspondents were placed under detention de-tention on August 26 at some unknown un-known place and were taken to Alx la Chapello on August 30.
