Show SMITHFIELD MAN I KILLED OUTRIGHT William Griffiths, Well Known Cache Valley Citizen, Loses Life Under Load of Wheat Smithfield, Nov. 9. A gloom was again cast over Smithfield as word reached here Saturday evening that William Griffith had been killed just north of Richmond. Mr. Griffiths was returning re-turning home from his ranch at Treasureton, Idaho with a load of sacked wheat and when crossing Cheery Creek he missed miss-ed the bridge and was thrown into the creek with his load. and team on top of him,- and was crushed to death. Mr. Howard How-ard of Smithfield was just behind be-hind him and he with others rendered all possible aid sending send-ing for the doctor who arrived just as he breathed his . last. He has resided here about five years, was 46 years old and leaves a wife and six children to mourn his loss, his oldest son Harry is on a mission in England Eng-land at the present time. In Jlr. Griffiths death, Smithfield loses one of its most progressive progres-sive citizens. He was one of our present city council, and the whole community sympathises "with the family. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Second ward tabernacle. Samuel Nelson who was injured in-jured in the wreck on the inter-urban inter-urban railroad Fridav evening and was taken to the hospital, is improving slowly. Mrs. Sylvester Lowe is in Salt Lake City receiving eye treatment from an eye specialist. special-ist. George Merrill, one of the early pioneers of Smithfield, is seriously ill. One of the most enjoyable events of the past week was the bundle shower given to Mrs. Isaac ChristofTerson in the First ward amusement hall on Friday evening. Over fifty of her friends being present. Mr. Irvine Read and Miss Donna Merrill will be married in the Logan temple Wednesday November 11. A reception will be tendered them at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Merrill. Mr. and Mrs. Albert McCann are rejoicing over the safe arrival ar-rival of their first son. |
