Thatcher, which occurred oc-curred at Blackfoot, Idaho, Saturday night at u o'clock, comes not only as a great shock to tho family in this city but was also a surprise to his many friends and associates. It has been known for a long time that Mr. Thatcher's health has not been good but It was not known that ho was so seriously ill. About ten days ago In company with Mr. L. C. Farr, Mr. Thatcher went to Dlackfoot, for treat ment from a specialist for what was thought to bo a nervous breakdown. It appeared that his condition was vorbe than first thought and he became be-came weaker and weaker until death came. Besides Mr. Farr, his mother and Mr. S. J. Jeppeson wore at his bedside when ho passed away. Mr. Georgo F. Thatcher was very favorably known In this city. He was tho son of tho late Moses Thatch-oi Thatch-oi ana wns 43 years of ago, having been borno In Oils city in tho year 1S71. During the past fifteen years he has been Identified with tho Thatcher Brbthors Banking Company. Ho sorv-ed sorv-ed as assistant cashier and succeeded H. E. Hatch as cashier. At tho present pres-ent tlmo ho is Identified with tho institution in-stitution as vlco prosldont. It was on account ot tho condition ot his health that ho sovered his connection with tho bank for an outdoor llfo. Mr. Thatcher was Identified with the organization of tho Commercial Boosters club nnd is a director ot tho club at tho present tlmo. Ho is also a director of tho Logan Garago and Supply Company, formerly known as the Schoub machlno Co., nnd director of tho Cache Knitting Works. Ho hns always been a public spirited man Tho interests ot tho city were his interests. in-terests. There hns never been a time that ho was not willing to glvo his services for any public cause.
