A reception will be, given this afternoon af-ternoon In tho largo hall or tho now Stewart block in this city In honor of tho golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. J. Z. Stewart. Those, who will bo In attendance will be their children and grand children. Tho reception Is to consist of an In-terestjng In-terestjng program after which dinner will be servecffollowed by dancing. Mr. and Mrs. Stewart were married Decomber 27th, 1869. LBotii have lived active lives and havo aided gj-eatly in tho up building of the com-munltjr com-munltjr sWr. Stowart wa,s born October 31, jj.844, In Adams. county, Illinois. He migrated to Utah in 1852 nnd located, lo-cated, In. Draper,' Utah, where ho and Mrs. Stowart obtained their early education ed-ucation under tho instruction of Dr. John R. Park. When Dr. Park was called to tako charge of tho University of Utnh he recommended J. Z. Stewart to succeed suc-ceed him in charge of tho Draper ! schools, which position ho held until 10 wns calloll by President Brlghnm .Young ot como to Logan to teach school, no has filled a number ot prominent positions in Cacho county having been n mombcr of tho city council for.dx: ears,-.also a member of tho school board, was probato Judge for tho county several years, I principal of the Cacho Somlnary of Logan and for a number ot years was president of tho faculty of tho Brig-ham Brig-ham Young Colcgo. In an ecclesiastical ecclesiasti-cal way ho has been on four missions nnd has been a member ot tho high council in Cacho tako for thirty-four yearn. Mrs. Stewart Is tho daughter of "pioneer parents, hor father being ono of the pioneers of July 24th, 1847. Sho Is tho mother of ton children and has Berved in church organizations nlnco her girlhood. |
