Mrs. Glen lilies received' a letter from her hua-band hua-band who was called In the last draft from CacheCounty to go to American Ameri-can Lake, but who waB soon transferred trans-ferred to New York, and from there taken aboard a ship and landed on England soil on Christmas Day. He reports that they are In a rest camp, but they don't know for how long. Mr. William A Noble of our city, is also with this company. They report a pleasant sea trip, calm sea all the way, but theF were kept in quite close quarters 'all the way, so wern glad to step on soil and have their freedom again. The company served a Christmas dinner of turkey, bread, butter, po- tatocs, brown gravy, cranberry Jelly, pickled asparague, coffeo and two pieces of plo on December 23, on board ship and another Christmas dinner on December 25 at the English Eng-lish camp. He says the barracks hero are only one story, but tbe camp is clean. You can surely see the effects of the war here and guess we will see more the farther we go. The people here are put on rations. I do not know what the rations are, bat tfcejr are enough to furnish a good substantial sub-stantial living. The soldiers that we have talked with so far are surely confident that we will win the war. Last night I met some Utah boys, they belong to one of the aviation squadrons. One of the boys was Mr. Browning, from Ogden. We have been sightseeing some. This Is a retty country. There is nothing' whatever wasted, they consume con-sume everything in a usefll way. It is quite cold here, we wear our over coats nil the time, but still the grass is green, it would look like summer If there were only leaves upon th? trees. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Buck have returned from Morrison, Virginia, where thoy have been visiting their son James, who is with the avintloi corps. Tho officers in charge were very courteous and received the visitors vis-itors well. James was given u furlough fur-lough of five days, so ho accompanied accompa-nied his parents to Washington and other places of Interest. Mr. and Mrs. Duck, also visited New York, Brooklyn, New Jersey, Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Chicago, and Intermediate pointB. The trip was one of pleasure as well as educational Funeral Bervlce3 over the remains of Mrs. Edith Coleman, who died of pneumonia, were held on Friday In tho Second ward. Bishop William L. I Mr. William Hunter will leave on Sunday to visit the boys at Camp Kearney, California. Mrs. Ford of Baker City, Oregon, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. William Wil-liam Sparks. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Griffith have returned home from Salt Lake City. j Mrs. Margaret Griffith has been ' called to Cleveland, Idaho on ac- count of the serious Illness of her mother, Mrs. Jane Smith. Mr. and Mrs. John Woolford, or Cardston, Canada, have been visiting the Woolford family here on a return tour of California. Mr. Thomas Woolford Wool-ford accompanied them home to spend a few weeks In Canada. Mr. A. J. Flack of Bole?, was tho guest of Mrs. Nellie Toolson on Tuesday. Tues-day.
