C Merrill, protossor ot H horticulture at tho Utah Agricultural Collcgo, has just returned to Logan H from a six weeks' auto tour ot tho H Northwest and California whero ho H studied horticultural conditions nt H 'first hand. Tho purpose of tho trip ' H .was to attend tho convention ot western horticulturists at Corvallls, H 'Oregon, from August 5 to 8 and to H Inspect personally tho great fruit H regions of tho Northwest. While away ho visited tho agricultural ex- H pertinent stations of this region and H . vlsltod with agricultural exports ot - H note. Much tlmo was spont Inspect- H lng tho large private agricultural H enterprises while particular ntten- H Lion was given to tho canneries, driers, dehydrating plants, and all B by-product establishments. A study JH of market conditions in tho cities H wns nlso made. While in Callfor- H nla tho Stato Fair at Sacramento H was visited.. ,H ' From Logan, Dr. Merrill, who waa H accompanied on the trip by Mrs. H Morrill, went to Pocatcllo, tlien lo B Twin Falls, Bolso Eastern Oregon 'H and Washington to Spokane; west B through tho great fruit sections of jHBVJ ,'Venntcbeo' and Yakima valleys In "l Washington; to Seattle and .through J,t ,H .tho berry sections around Puyallup t ' .and Sumner, near Tacoma; through H lOlympta and.
