First prize of one thousand dollars ( went to Donald Earl Duntiar for a paper entitled "A Comparative Study of the Welsh and American Tlnplato Industries." TJhe other winner received three hundred dollars. He wns Richard S. Mcriam. Ills topic was "The Wobbs' Theory of Wagos." Professor J. Laurenco Laughlln of Chltago University was chalrmnn of the commlttco ot college professors limiting tho awards. Albert H. Lonko of Ontario, Canada, captured tho sec ond prlzo ot five hundred dollars, writing on "Agricultural Education." Tho fourth award, two hundred dollars dol-lars went to NHes Carpenter, a student stud-ent of Northwestern University ot Chicago. His paper discussed "A Comparison ot the Financial Operations Opera-tions of tho General Electric Company Com-pany and tho Westlnghouse Electric and Manufacturing Company during the Panic of 1907 and Period Preceding." Preced-ing." This was tho tenth annual contest hold.. Essays wero received up to Juno 1, 1914, and tho committee used the Intervening tlmo to mako careful selection. |
