When employed f tho Racker Mercantile company's department de-partment storo entered tho building this taornlng they discovered ihnt it hnd been entered nnd robbed Jurlns tho night. There was peculiar and convincing proof that the crlmo was committed by two men. Two old hats, two pairs of old shoes nnd two tultE of old clothes, were found lying on the floor of tho store, mute but sufficient ovldcnco to prove tho number num-ber concerned In tho burglary Tho probablo ago of nt least ono of the thieves Is Indicated by tho fact that a tag, torn from n law suit which replaced' an old one, and thrown on the floor was marked ngo 19. It Is supposed that tho thief who thus exchanged his old suit for n new ono is nbout 19 years old. Humorous Feature Tho touch of humor which tho thieves gavo to their exploit was heightened by the discovery that tho eld hats and tly old shoes they left behind wero parts of a quantity of merchandise stolen from the 'Peoples Co-op hero threo or four months ago. They were audacious and deliberate In their criminal work. They partook of lunch tho remnlns of which wero. sufficiently In evidence nnd they smoked several cigars, tho stubs of which wero found lying on tho floor Evidence was also discovered Indicating Indi-cating thnt the burglars whllo they wero still In the store took time to clean nnd probably to reload their ro-I ro-I volvors. Their coolnoss nnd nudnc-I nudnc-I Ity seem tho more unusual when It Is remembered that tho establishment they wero robbing is on Main street and in the business heart of tho town. Goods Tnken An Inventory of missing merchandise merchan-dise shows thnt the burglars carried off silks and ladles goods to the value of about $1500, 15 pairs of shoes, four suit cases, two pistols, all the watches In the store, nnd other articles ar-ticles aggregating In valuo about 12,000. The burglars gained entrnnco by 'sawing around tho lock in tho front door nnd thus removing the lock. Tho night wos dark nnd rainy and consequently favorablo for their work. They must havo had a conveyance, con-veyance, probably an automobllo in which to carry off tho stolen goods. Sheriff Ea3t was promptly notified at Provo and ho as promptly Instituted Institut-ed a search for the thloves but at last accounts no arrests had boen niado. With so many clues in tho bonds of tho officers It Is believed that the burg'ars will soon be apprehended. |
