The Itallroad and Transportation committee recommends that tho old survey (or a diiect routo fioin Cache Junction to Loi;an) be used nnd wo' will furnish two thirds of tho right' of way In distance .beginning at Cache Junction; also a site for a sta'tlon In1 Benson, and the club will assist In' obtaining tho balance of the right of ' wny. I After some discussion as to wheth-l cr this cut-off was desirable or not, tho following resolution wns Introduced, Intro-duced, but was turned down: J "Whereas, tho Commercial club of this city has been requested by Mr. W. II, Bancroft, vice-prcsldont and general manager, O. S. L. to iuUIso as' to what Cacho Valley will do by way' of right of way and station facilities ' for the building of a cut-off from Hal-' lard to Logan, and whereas the build-( Ing of tho said cut-off from Iiallard , will bilng tho lino at a point too far south to take In the, Benson district, nnd will thereforo not Interest tho people of this vicinity to such an extent ex-tent that they will assist In procuring the right of way they preferring to go to Logan, Smlthflold or Cacho Junction rather than obligate them' selves for a road which would bo Just about as far south from their fields as these Btntlons aie east nnd west and Whereas, The survey known as tho "old survey," running from Cacho Junction through Benson to Lognn will meet with popular favor In this community, and Logan ,and all points north .and for tho construction of which the people of Benson will be reasonable In the matter of right of way and station facilities, Therefore, Be It Resolved, that this club k, respectfully requests tho O. S. L. la build the cut-off along tho lino of tho old survery,' or thereabouts, or In other words In a direct route flora Cacho Junction to Logan and In consideration con-sideration thereof we will furnish two-thirds two-thirds of the right of wny .beginning at Cache Junction, also 'lotion cite at Benson, and will assist In obUIn ing tho balance of tho right of wny. Tho ones who opposed tho resolution resolu-tion scorned to have other plans In mind which thoy havo not revealed; but tho matter was left In the hands of tho aamo committee to confer further fur-ther with the railroad people and tho peoplb from Bonson. This action seems to defeat, to somo extent, tho proposed cut-off plan. Just what will bo dono now Is hard to determine. de-termine. Somo of tho club mombors are strong for tho plan, but duo to a split In sontlmont, It cannot be said what path tho matter wlH now follow. |
