Show WHO ARE THE TRAITORS? The above aitlclo on the "Non-Partisan movement at Logan" and appearing ap-pearing In tho Saturday number of tho Destaet News, can be christened no moro nor less than n "Hcndrlckson Wall." This is true In tho first place from tho fact that It Is very probable prob-able It was wiltten by Mr. Hcndii'k-con Hcndii'k-con himself. In the second plnre If he did not write It, It was no doubt written by one of his proteges. In -ill probability on Mr. Hendrlckson' typewriter, the same us was the article ar-ticle along the same lines appearing In tho Logan Journal, Saturday, November No-vember 4th and labeled "A bil of political po-litical history." In any event tho nr-tide nr-tide lopresents tho sentiments expressed ex-pressed by Mr. hendrlckson both before be-fore and nfter election, and Is a um-plete um-plete reproduction of the wnll lie Is delivering dally. Now wo, hao no deslio to fight the election over again. The pcoplo have spoken, and we hnd hoped that the past could be shelved in order that all might get together and work for the advancement of Logan. But Mr. Hendrlckson Is not content. He, c his representative, must carry on tho fight, and not content with flglic-Ing flglic-Ing his battles nt home, It must be-carried be-carried to one of tho big dnlly papers of the state. Two reasons for tho article ar-ticle nro manifest, first, to bring Mr. Hendrlckson In the spot light In n stnto capacity, and to herald him ns n martyr, and a great man, and second, sec-ond, to brand what, ho terms "local party leaders" asMrnltors, and show-that show-that ho was the "man selected to experience ex-perience tho keen blto of the political politi-cal traitor' As for the first wo hove no objection to his being In "tho spot light" In any capacity. Wo hnvo no objection whatever as to tho fength and breadth of tho nrea on which his greatness Is paraded. Wo renlizo thnt ho is a great man, In consn-quenco consn-quenco of which wo onco voted for him In a Republican convention ns tho Republican candidate for mayor. Wo supported him throughout the campaign, nnd on election day It was our pleasure to work and vote for him. Ho was not elected, 'tis truo, but that was not our fault, and iho fact of his falling of election docs not Increase or decrenso our admiration admir-ation for him. In tho artlclo referred to to either himself, or his protege, tells how the people, nro Just waiting losing slc'op no doubt, longing fp.r the "future "fu-ture lo. furnish an opportunity lo i" ward hlmrKven-thls we have no objection ob-jection to. nft'dllf there Ifl nnythlilr due him tlSVood' tAt' Vrtdall of iis hope he wl) live," long .enoiign io 'bo paid In' filL Wo shall always bo glad to Join hands- with all good olllsjens In doing Justice to any nnd wll woi-thy woi-thy men In the future as 'wt" htrtu dono In tho pnst. As' for ' Mr. 'Hen-drlckson 'Hen-drlckson there has not been i( day. nor an hour, In all his political career car-eer wherein ho has not been trcmtwl fairly, and hnd Justice dealt out ',o him. As for the second reason, the branding of "local party leaders" as traitors wo take Issue, and call Mr. "Citizen of Logan," he ho Mr, nop-drlckson, nop-drlckson, or otherwlso, to account. You clnlm that "tho local leaders met In caucus nt which Mr. Hendrlckson wns piescnt, nnd by unanimous vote decided that no ticket would be placed plac-ed in tho field by the Republican Itfirty." Dear Citizen cnn you bring the woid of one of thoBo present nt the meeting Bave John A. Hendrlck- I son, who will mnke such a statement. state-ment. You know tho men who wcro present. Call upon Mnor Anderson, City Ghnlrinnif J. Charles Johnson, Dr. Gcorgo Thomas, Councllmen John Quaylo, S. O. Stevens, Albert I3ent-sen, I3ent-sen, Lorin A. Merrill' nnd Ollf I, Pcderson, Joseph Odell, II. A. Peder-son Peder-son and Herschel Hullen, and ask them if thero wns any such action taken. They were nil at the meeting and bnve gone on record as to the proceedings, nnd It is a fact that not, one of them were a party to any such action. Dear Citizen produce one (person, (per-son, save, John A. who will mnke such an nbsurd, unwarranted, anduutruth-fill anduutruth-fill statement nnd thero will then be at least a slight excuse for your blackmail of your fellow cltlzons ,1b a state dally. As n matter of 'fact thero was no such action, nnd "no ie ference whatever to tho candidacy of John A. Hendrlckson, or any other man. The meeting wns called for another an-other purpose altogether, and had honor and decency existed between men there would have been nothing published about the meeting. t f Hut just suppose for a moment that tho gentlemen Invited by the major had done as Mr. Citizen, and as Mr. Hcndricksou, suys they did. Weio they tho Republican party? Has there cer been any act on tho pait of either of these gentlemen ,)to speak for the Republican party? Have they not nlwuys stood-for'sub-mining party matters to the party In convention assembled? Did they not do right by deciding that the "Initiative "Initia-tive belonged to the city committe'e? And did not the Republican party meet In convention assembled? Did not every Republican hnvo a chance to speak his mind? Was not n resolution reso-lution presented to tho effect thnt no ticket bo endorsed? And was not thnt resolution overwhelmingly defeated? de-feated? Following upon tho defeat 'of this resolution was not a motion mado to the effect that the Republican party par-ty piocced to endorse a ticket? Was not this motion carried without a dissenting vote? Mr. Hendrlckson will you please nnswer? You were at the meeting nnd took part in tho balloting, bal-loting, and even you did not vote ngalnst putting a ticket in the field. Even you took part In tho proceedings proceed-ings nnd voted for candidates. After nil these questions havo been answered an-swered It will then bo In order to ask WHO IS AND WHERB ARE THE TRAITORS? Are thoy'tho gentlemen who stood by tho will of tho Republican Republi-can party In convention assembled, as they havo always dono In the past, which Is In their favor as to their acts in tho future? Or arc thoy thoso who stand practically alono in their feeble nttompts to blackmail honest and consistent men, thoso whose past party record is shady, thoso who met with their party In convention conven-tion assembled and then went out nnd repudiated It Just to satisfy nn oyer abundance for office? Which? . . . . |
