Show Take Kaiser to Task. Emporor William of Germany is in receipt of a singular petition forwarded forward-ed to Berlin by tho I'assalc (N. J.) Society for tho Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. It calls attention to tho fact that "in the fine equestrian statuo of your majesty erectod at tho entrance to tho new railway brldgo at Cologne tho tall ot tho horso is docked." Tho petition sets forth that "your majesty is no doubt aware that the docking of tho horse's tall constitutes ono of tho worst cruelties practiced on a dumb beast." It adds: "In our humblo opinion it would be a mistake to leave tho statuo ,1a its present form. A beautiful .long tall might be put in tho placo ot the stump. Such an alteration would not only add much to the beauty of tho statuo, but would also stop adverse criticism regarding your majesty's feelings toward a humane cause." The emperor has not yet' replied to tho petition. |
