The latest method of local democrats demo-crats by which they hope to relegate republicanism to a deep hole behind the sheep corral, is to cuss Smoot and Smootism to a finish, in a public way, and then on the quiet say to "the brethren" that the best way to keep "Uro." Smoot In his seat is for them to vote the democratic ticket. These wily sons of Jefferson, (whom he would disown If he wero alive) put up a great talk to the effect that the election of the democratic ticket this time will convince the world, the congressional committees and everybody else that "church lntlucnco" doesn't exist in Utah. It follows that when this Is demonstrated by this very unique method, Mr. Smoot will be welcomed with open arms, a crown will be placed plac-ed upon his head and he will be implored im-plored to keep his seat in the Senate to he United States. The light made against him and the Mormon people will bo hushed and turned Into laudations lauda-tions if the people will but vote the democratic ticket to prove that there is no undue inllucncc here. It Is said that this scheme Is being pushed with considerable con-siderable strenuoslty at Wellsvllle and other places and that some of the brethren arc inclined to view this treachery with considerable favor.
