Show Shock at Hyde Park. Earth Quake Felt There by Many. Other Items of News. IIyhk Pauk. May 23. On Thursday Thurs-day morning last nctween 8 and 0 o'clock the peoplo of Hyde Park were considerably frightened and shaken up with an earthquake. It seems that quite a number knew nothing of It while manrlbthers felt It quite distinctly. dis-tinctly. Houses shook, windows and dishes rattled and somewhat of a i oaring oar-ing sound accompanied It. Tho new train schedule, which recently re-cently went Into elfect may bo a good thing for Logan and other places, but it Is not so pleasant for us. We may bo somewnat behind tho times, and some hay seeds may still bo sticking to us, but we can't understand how it Is that we have to wait until Wednesday Wednes-day and Saturdajs for our semi-weekly semi-weekly News, whllo others get It tho evening it Is published. True our mall carrier docs not meet the evening even-ing train, but why can't we get It when the train returns from Preston next morning as wo used to do Why must we watt a day longer, when tho train Is two hours earlier? Yesterday wo had quite a lively haiUtorm. Stones as large as average sb.ed tumbles fell, and those out In It wcio pelted quite hard. Tho storm being of short duration did not do much damage other than cutting off a few leaves from tho trees and flattening flatten-ing for a time the beets, peas and other garden stuff. Those awful measles seem about as hard to get rid of as an Insurance agent. Dr. Hancey removed tho last quarantine Hag a few dais ago. but had to put up another a day or two later at tho homo of 0. K. Anderson. Quito a number of Hyde Parkers witnessed the ball gamo Satursday. between be-tween the 0. 0. C. and the Garland clubs. The farmers have now got most all thcircrops in, and last week gave their largo canals a thorough cleaning. Tho band bojs realized ten dollars from the dance given Wcdnesdny the 21th. |
