Show Wonderful Find of Pure Onyx Local People HaveExtensiveClaims of Onyx, Copper, Gold and Silver Ore. Messrs IS. A. Ilcrry, of this city, and S. II, Itoundy, of Ilenson, arc showing some, magnificent samples of onyx, copper, gold and silver ore from claims they own in Washington county. These gentleman, with Hcber Atkins, of that county, possess live claims which they are confident aie exceedingly exceed-ingly ilch In ore and onyx, and have recently organized a company to do dlvelopmcnt work. Magnificent Onyx. Just at. present more attention Is being paid to the onyx showings than lhat. of the mineral claims, and the .samples shown heie certainly seem to warrant piaclically any expectation, expecta-tion, If the quunlly is theie. According Accord-ing to local marble workeis these samples, sam-ples, many of them good si.c, aie the purest onyx, worth double the price of good nun bio. It is free from checks, and acid tests fall to reveal any trace of limestone. The I'tah on) x Is recognized as superior to that of the impelled Mexican onyx, and Mr. Herry is eonlldcnt that his company com-pany possesses the only perfect onyx In Utah and possibly in the Fulled States. The city and county building in Salt Lake city is wainscoted with Hie Pelican point onyx, and In comparison compar-ison with these samples from Washington Wash-ington county, that "used in Salt Lake sinks Into inslgnillcauce. As it Looks to a Plug. The writer had the pleasure of look-lug look-lug over the samples and while know-lug know-lug less than nothing of the quality, value, etc., is certain lhat he never saw anything of the kind more attractive attrac-tive than these samples. Thore are no less than seven different colors and It is dllllcult to decide which Is the prettier. A piece of the dark material mater-ial catches the eye, and then a piece of purest white seems the best, but a glimpse of a rich lcddlsh brown upsets up-sets all former opinions. There arc vailous shades of tho blues and browns and there arc mixed colors, varigated, etc. The material takes a polish easily and Is beautiful beyond description. In conversation local marble workers said lhat they had never seen anything liner, and noted to the writer a peculiarity In the formation for-mation that enchances the attractiveness attractive-ness and value of the stone. It appears ap-pears from these samples that the grain runs crosswise of the colors so that when the slabs are sawed Into thin strips, as all onyx is, the color all comes squarely to the surface. They say that It is merely aqucstion of quantity, quan-tity, as the quality Is all that could be desued Vast Formations. When asked hi regard to the quantity quan-tity of this onyx. Mr. Hcrrv said that It was In evidence on the live claims of the company. Hut little develop. merit work lias been done, but these loughs can oeiraceiiinuciiiiiioiy. ilic samples he lias here were broken from cropplngs sticking from the ground at an angle of forty live degrees. He is certain that a little Investigation will reveal Immense quantities of tills purest onyx. The ledges appear to be from six Inches to two feet In thickness, thick-ness, all that could possibly bo desired. desir-ed. The Minerals. Aside from the wonderful showings In onyx, Mr. Perry says that on tho company's claims are ore cropplngs no less wondeiful. Ho has samples of stuff taken practically from the grass roots, the assay of which has gone so high that he would not give consent lo publication. He says that the company com-pany has no desire to create any excitement, ex-citement, nor lose any reputation for truth and veracity and that a publication publica-tion of Hie facts would result in ono or the other. The samples of copper tire unquestionably very good, and the gold and silver bearing rock seems to be tho real thing. Native copper and silver arc easily discernible. Considering Ihe fact that these' samples sam-ples are from the surface the showing is really rem.il kablc and might reasonably reason-ably Indicate great wealth below. The Claims. The live claims owned by the company com-pany are close together and botli onyx anil mineral aie but from 2."to:i0 miles from the South Paei lie. Mr. Herry and Sir. Itoundy liave spent considerable consider-able time on the ground within tho past J car, and Mr. Iloundy Is just now at home from a month's stay there. They are confident that some great development work can be done at a comparatively small expense. It Is the Intention of the company to give gieatest attention to tho onyx at present as It seems that this can be handled the easiest and with Hie least expense. If this can be put on the market it will easily furnish the money for the development of the other properties. The' company hopes that it can Interest In-terest sutllclent Cache A'alley capital to do the necessary development work. They will place stock on the market shortly, and have no desire to let in outsldeis (f It can be avoided. Mr. Heiry Is glad lo .show his samples to any and all. |
