On Sunday when' the mail came in the boys were scanning every letter for tho one Bob expected from the Trlbuno with the $5,000 check enclosed. The Salt Lake package, pack-age, was the last ono opencd-ond down towards tho bottom, there sure enough was Bob's letter with the red loiters of the Tribune oh the outside. They held It up to the llglit, tlio dark outlines of a strip of paper Just the size of a check was plainly vlsablc, Bob was called and the letter presented. pre-sented. As he held It to the light his face was a study for any artist. The boys asked him to open it but he declined preferring to bo alone In the quiet of his own sanctum. The boys followed him In and refused to go away until the letter was opened. After a good deal of persuasion Bob pulled the letter carefully out of his pocket, eyed It critically, and with vlsable emotion and a trembling hand tore It open and pulled out the check slip and this Is what he tcad: "Your subscription cxpltcd on the 13th.
