Doctrine and Covenants Section 08 Verse 25. The Latter Day Saints have heard this quotation repeated many times in' their worshipping assemblies; they themselves are better prepared to Judge as to the extent this, has been carried out in their immediate families. fami-lies. No church has better organizations organiza-tions than the Latter day Saints have for the training of their children in Primaries, Religion Classes, Sunday Schools, etc. All of them equipped with cftlclcnt oillccrs, teachers and aids of various-kinds doing their work for the labor of love. The question arises whether or not there is nqtmorc of a laxity on the part of the parents then there should be owing to these numerous advantages for the training of the youth. The above organizations must be remembered arc auxiliaries only to aid tho parent, not to relieve them whatever from their responsibilities responsibil-ities towards their offspring. Support of every kind should be tendered the olllcers and teachers of children when called' for. Parents should visit the various gatherings as much as possible and thereby manifest an appreciation of what Is being done in the proper training of the young, and at homo call tho children around the fireside and have them repeat what they have learned which will have a tendency tostrcngthen their minds and prove intcrsting toothers. Interspersed with proper Instructions this will have a good effect. Doing this from the Primary Pri-mary on up through all the higher grades. If these small things are neglected neg-lected by the parents, to some extent the work of the teachers are neutralized neutraliz-ed and through this Indifference sorrow and regrets may be felt when it Is too late. Parents train your children In the way they should go and when they become old they will not depart therefrom. there-from. This is tho rule, there may be exceptions to It, but do your part, after which if children go astray "the sin will not be upon your head," otherwise it will. The signs of the times should indicate to each and every parent, It Is their imperative duty to give such parental care and guidance to their children, that they may bo preserved from the pitfalls of sin, which are so prevalent. If parents through this means can besuccessrul in raising their children aright.whatjoy to be achieved If on the other hand through Indifference Indiffer-ence they go wrong, then sorrow and remorse of conscience will follow. Parents, now Is tho time, not In the future, to attend to these suggsetions then you will feel Justified within yourselves your-selves that you have compiled with the requirement of the Lord. |
