Show Mushroom Story. If a story that Is now going the rounds Is correct In every particular, the liking for mushrooms is In some Instances as much of a disease as kleptomania klep-tomania or measles and leads to as remarkable re-markable developments. It is said that one of Logan's Jovial convivlallsts has this extreme liking for these delectable de-lectable little dainties which grow in a night and how this liking led him to completely hoodoo, hypnotize one of our elderly gentlemen and then corral another huge bunch from a wldc-awako wldc-awako attendant In one of our thirst parlors Is nothing short of Hcrrman like In its magic. The said Jovial conviviallst says to, the elderly gentleman spoken of above: "I believe I know where there Is a nice bunch of mushrooms in the lanoon your premises. Let's hitch up and we'll go down and get them and divide." Tho e.g. likes mush rooms also, and Jumped at the chance of dividing with him. They found the mushrooms O. K., about forty in number. When they reached the city the J. c. said to the c. g: "Well, there's not many of these, 1 guess you don't want anv," and there was that hi the way it was said that the e. g. concluded, of course, that he uidn't want any. The J. c. drives up to the aforesaid .thirst parlor to get a drink of water, and while waiting for the assistaat to measure it out, spied a nice sack of mushrooms. "Well, well," said the J. c, "mushrooms! mushrooms! 1 love those things you don'tcarc if I take a fcw,do you?" Though that sack of mushrooms had been purchased with good hard cash, the J. c. was a regular inquirer for water, and what could the assistant do but keep silent. Silence gives consent, con-sent, you know, and that whole sack of mushrooms was taken out to the j. c's buggy and found a resting place with that other bunch of forty. Now Isn't that magic? Put inasmuch as the J. c. has but two in his family, what did he do with that tub full of mushrooms, Is the question? |
