COMMUNICATED Mr. Editor: It would undoubtedly be taken as an olfenso If It should bo suggested that the .bankers of this town nro not "boosters" for nil other enterprises ns well ns tho.r own, nnd were not supporters of their own town, or Interested In-terested In its development. They would nlso bo offended If it should bo Intimated thht they did not speak well of each other, or stornd together In supporting each other's Interests Just as the farmers, grocers, dentists, and the dry goods merchants are supposed sup-posed to do. Recent information has come to me which compels mo to believe that there Is at least one bnnk pres'dent In this city who Is not supporting tli 3 grocers of this city as It would naturally be expected be should do. 1 am credibly Informed that the above mentlonod bunker buys nearly all ot his groceries outside of Logan City, nnd thnt his excuso for doing th s Is thnt he saves n little money by buy-Ing buy-Ing elsowhore. While I have serious doubts that he can buy cheaper elsewhere, else-where, quality considered, it looks to mo very Inconsistent on his pnrt to send money out of the town for goods, claiming at the samo time to be interested in-terested In tho town's development nnd advancement, nnd anxious to seo nth?r bus ness enterprises bcsldo tho banks mhke n living. Let us admit, for the sako of argument, argu-ment, that be could save a little money mon-ey by purchasing his groceries outside out-side of tho city by buying them of course, in larger quantities. Is it not a fnct nlso that the grocers and other oth-er business houses of our city could ur)a their accounts to banks In Og-den Og-den or Salt Lrtko nnd obtn n money to chrvy on their business 1 per cent less than wo can obtain It hero In Logan? Suppose tho grocers and merchants mer-chants should docldo to do that, nnd thus build up Ogdon nnd Salt Lako bunks to tho detriment of those in Logan. What wou'd bo tho result? Would not tho banks or this city nuintaln that wo were unpntrlotlc. thst wo did not support thoso who imported us, nnd thht we were not willing to 1 ve nnd let live? I am mentioning these facts for the benefit of those concernsd, Mil thct the people may know wha aro and who aro not interested ln tho development devel-opment of our city and valley. A GROCER. |
