Show THE SECRET OF UTAH "To keep en falling In love is the bucrot of perpetuhl youth" declares Dr. Joslah Oldlleld. He further says: 'If jou are married, the thing is 3 mple t'nough. Fall In love with your husband or wife. "If you do this you will never rind time to ndopt the nagging habit. Nothing No-thing ages one like matrimonial nagging. nag-ging. "As for you bachelors and spinsters don't waste time. Above all, let none of you be senile enough to tell me you nre Incapable of falling In love or hhve no Inclination to do so. "A person who has never been In love and never wants tobe ought to be drowned. This Is my conviction." convic-tion." Dr. Oldlleld Is n philosopher. He Is a present day philosopher. But In this ono opinion of love he re-echoes the profound opinion of nil the philosophers phil-osophers through the ages. Robert Louis Stevenson tells why th's is so in one sentence: "So long as we love, we serve; so long as we are loved by others I would almost say we are Indispensable; Indispens-able; and no man Is useless while he bag a friend." And there you have the keynote of being happy. For men have tried everything else hnd found it unavailing. unavail-ing. One seeks a new pleasure every day and learnB that pleasures are only for a day, still leaving the longing long-ing of the years. Others grow old without knowing love'B glow, hnvlng steeled their hearts against It for one reason or another. Some think fame is tho nemo of existence and some whnt n name and some seek high power. Ono spends his life In the accum-ulntlon accum-ulntlon of gold and dreams of a day to como when ho will have to bo happy. hap-py. nut nfter all, they realize tho great need of somo ono to love, the clasp of n loving hand and tho communion of head, hand nnd heart th'it only lovo brings. In n word, all else In comparison Is only chaff, and lovo Is to llfo ns tho wheat to that chaff. And Dr. Oldfleld m'ght have n few people to drown If ho could carry out the Idea that there nro peoplo who have nover been In love and never whnt to bo For. strnngo to say, thero are some folk that como under this description. And why? Because they havo not realized the grent benefits and need of love in the pursuit of happiness. They go on the theory thht "Wbut I dr-n't know won't hurt m." nnd both ways and that, "Whnt I don" do not consider that the rule works know won't help me." Therefore, it Is largely a ctise of "Seek nnd ye shall find." For the world has proved, "If you want to have a. friend bo one." In like manner, if you want to havo the benefits of love manifest It yourself. And In all truth, there 13 no one incapable of falling in love. It Is the greatest stimulant toward serving and getting the supreme Joy of feeling that you hro indispensable to some One. There Is no greater glow. It 1b wrong to shut it out; and If you overlook trifling things that might hinder the continuous pleasure of loving you have the secret of happiness hap-piness and youth Indeed. Love is the loaf of life and each of us need a slice. Herald-Republican. |
