Show E. R. MILES, SR OF SMIIHFIELD PASSES AWAY AT HIS HOME i (Special to tha Republican) Smlthfleld, April 3. After two months uffering, Mr. E. R. Miles 8r., a pioneer to Cache Valley, and one of her most sturdy sons, In tho pro-senco pro-senco of many members of his family fam-ily quietly passed away at his homo In Smlthfleld on Tuesdny evening, April 2, at 10:10 o'clock. Deceased was In his soventy-fourth year, having been born at Parkmnn, Geauga County, Ohio, May 25, 1838. Ho cam to Utah with his parents when but ten years of ago and mado his homo with them at Cottonwood, Salt Lako County, until the spring of I860 when ho moved to Smlthfleld, Cache Countyv whore ho has lived a most useful life. As n frontiersman ho ranked high, and throughout life has bo'en recognized ns n leader among his fellow men. He has always al-ways been a prominent chruch worker work-er nnd has filled many, positions of trust. For years ho acted as senior President of tho seventeenth quorum of Borcntles and was recently ordain od n High Priest. As one of his greatest great-est earthly assets can bo cited tho honorable postorlty which ho now leaves to rovero his name. The, departed reared a largo family fam-ily and Is now survived by two wives, twonty Children, forty-seven grand children nnd one great-grand child. All Smlthfleld has lost a father in tho passing of Mr. Miles and with thoso of the family tb0 entire community com-munity mourns. Funeral services will bo held In tho Second ward Tnbernaclo Frldny, April 5, at 1:30 p.m. |
