Show Local News. James Dcvlne, ex-chief of Fire Department De-partment of Salt Lake City, has been In Logan the past few days. James Bishop, aged 70 pears, ono of the pioneers of Paradise, died1 at his homo in Salt Lake City last Saturday morning, tho result of old age. Tho funeral was held yesterday (Tuesday) atJ2 p'clock, at the Sixteenth ward meeting house in Salt -Lake. Parties living in the vicinity of McCammon say that II- O. Harkness and others are undertaking a stupendous stupen-dous scheme in building a reservoir on the Portneuf river and constructing a ditch to convey water to a barren tract ot land between McCammon and Downey. This tract comprises about 30,000 acres of land. Mrs. Jemima 'Dalncs, ot .this city, died at 0 p. m. Sunday. yShe had been an Invalid for twelve years, being affected af-fected with stomach and heart trouble. She leaves ten children, all of whom were at the bedside, excepting one, who could not be reached in time. The deceased was 0!) ,cars of age, a most estimable lady and a zealous Latter-day Saint. She was the wife of Robert Dalncs, formerly a bishop of Hyde Park. The funeral will be ield at Ilydo Park to day at twelve o'clock. August Bertholson, of the Seventh ward, left for Nevada last Monday to commence work on a mining property In which he has taken a lease. |
