Davis, who Is to take the place of Prof. David Stephens at the college this year, is a strong man In stenography and typewriting no Is a graduate of the territorial Normal School of Arizona and has had much business and teaching experience In Arlaona and Idaho. Professor and Mrs. Ball drove to Brlgnam Saturday morning. Professor Profes-sor Ball will spend a few days there Inspecting the orchards. Coach Walker is a prominent figure In Chicago University society this summer. Besides taking work in law he lsfcoach and captain of the summer baseball squad; A Chicago paper speaks of him as tho "Maroon's star pltcMer who fans nine of the Aurora's squall," Mf.Ueorge T. The graduates of the college are taklig prominent positions In the state. Two recent appointments are H. E. Jensen, '08, as principal of the Richfield high school and J. L.Kearns, '07, aa principal of the Park City high schoolt Mr. Leroy Stevens, former principal ((the Holien schools In Millard county, coun-ty, has moved to Logan with his family fam-ily and will take work at the college next year. With hlm.have come also six of his eighth grado graduates. Mr. H. P.Derr, grain investigator of the U. S.. department of horticulture, was a recent visitor at the college to get samples of milling-grains, especially especial-ly barley. He Is a graduate of the University of Illinois and took a more than usua'l interestjn Logan because of the Logan men who-have been doing do-ing graduate work at his Alma Mater. He remarked that he had always considered con-sidered the Gallatin valley In Montana Mon-tana the most beautiful valley In the west until he made the acqualntcnce of Cache valley. News from President Widtsoo states that he is enjoying hla vacation and It now in the Yellowstone park. He will be back about the first of September. In the Inter-Mountain Republican contest we notice the names of three Agricultural College students. They are Miss Nellie Hayball, Miss Ina Stratford and Miss Ruby Nebeker. Prof. John T.Calnelll returned Saturday Sat-urday from his trip Into Rich county. He went as far as Cokevlllo and reports re-ports that the ..ollege will receive many sudents from the other side of the mountains as all old students are planning to return and many new ones will come with them. M. C.
