Show Will Celebrate on Pioneer Day m Sports. Decorations. Electric Display. Two Dances. Glove Contest. Baseball Game , Logan has at last awakened from her long sleep and' will celebrate Pioneer Pio-neer day, as no other day has erer been celebrated here before. A meeting was held Wednesday evening and the committees were appointed and the preliminaries were talked' over. The members on committees are: Finance William Morrell and Leo Nelson. Decoration Leo Campbell and W. M. Howell. 1 Amusements Geo. Ilansen, chairman; chair-man; F. W, Thatcher, Harold La-1 La-1 fount, and Arthur Bateson. Every person on the committees Is a live and active man and a good time is assured. There will be something doing every minute. The final arrangements ar-rangements will be made tonight and tomorrow, when the program will be completed. Already Harold Lafount has been in Salt Lake to arrange for a balloon ascension. A abort program will be given at the opera house in the mornlng.During the day there will b 3 three good footraces tree for all. 1 There will also be a tug-ot-war and a biseball game between a crack town team and a baseball nine from Salt Lake City. This day wl be the initial appearance appear-ance of the Logan 'City brass band. The band boys are doing extensive practice and by July 24 their muslo jtk ' will be the equal of any band muslo in i the state. The Juvenile band will also be on the program, and with the j dally re-enforcements in the ranks of this band It will furnish an interesting interest-ing role. There will be a grand ball in both the auditorium and the pavilion pavil-ion in the evening. Besides the above interesting program pro-gram a drawing card will be a ten-round ten-round friendly glove contest between Kid Dowie of Minneapolis and Billy Hamp of Logan. 1 here will be three rousing preliminaries. Culvert of Og-den Og-den will meet Flrey Chrlstensen .of IBrlgliam City. Something novel will ba a battle royal between from eight to twelve men. Davis of Malad will also meet Oeiger of Ogden. A. H. Badenoch has br en asked by the committee com-mittee to assist with the management and plans for the, above bouts. The opera house has been engaged for the exhibition. A unique part of the day 'a celebration celebra-tion will be the decorations. It Is a question If ever a more beautiful clcc trie display has been seen In Utah than has been planned. Both the City and the Tellurlde Power companies have promised to lend every assistance with electric lights for arches and different electric displays for Main street and the Intersection of Main with First North and Center. The outlying settlements of the valley val-ley are especially invited to "come join our celebration." No expense will be spared in making the day's festivities the best that money can furnish. And' as said before, it will ba a gala day for Logan and the valley as there will be something doing all the time. |
