James puts "an end to a controversy which has been pending several years. James was convicted In the District court as tho result of a very vigorous prosecution and the caso was reversed on appeal. No doubt good reasons prompted tho action of the District Attorney In requesting re-questing and the Judge in granting the dismissal. In contemplation of law William James enjoys tho same presumption of innocence as If he had not been charged with the offense at all. Certainly his long life in tho community and his good reputation entitles him to be regarded as an in-noccntman. in-noccntman.
