Show Logan Cliy lias New Policemen Mayor Robinson's Appointments Confirmed. Con-firmed. Other Business of" Council. The affairs before tho Logan City Council Wednesday night were not of any startling business Importance, tho matters being mostly routine. It was thought by some that Mayor Robinson's appointments for policemen po-licemen would bo held up again, but they went through smilingly At the request of Ma)or Robinson Rob-inson the names submitted at tho last meeting, Etnil Anderson and Samuel Adams, were read and action taken. Crawford moved that the names be voted on singly, but Evans wanted them referred to acommittco for In-vestlgat In-vestlgat on. Crawford's motion prevailed, pre-vailed, and Emll Anderson was voted upon. The Republicans stood by him and tho four democrats voted no. He was elected. Samuel Adams was named, the vote standing as In the case of Anderson. Building Inspector. Albert llcrntsop, building Inspector tho past two years, was renamed by Mayor Robinson. There were but two votes against him, Carlisle and Aicnt Johnson. Offices to be Moved. Robinson, Lundqulst, Evans and A. Johnson, committee appointed to confer con-fer with the county commissioners in reference to the use ot certain rooms in tho court house for city olllccs reported re-ported that three rooms on the second floor available for police quarters, recorder's re-corder's olllce and council chamber weroavallablejthat the rental, Including Includ-ing heat, will be 815 per month. Tho committee advised that these rooms bo seemed a. id tho olllces moved, and the council concurred. A committee was appointed to complete arrange-ments,and arrange-ments,and tho change will probably bo made about March 1st. M. Mourllzen bid $2.10 for a two year lease of thlrty-llvo acres of city property, and $140 for a two year lease of the "old fair ground," This was accepted. Another bid was from S, J. Johnson, $LJG for season's lease of city park, and $0.ri for one year lease of other property. The committee on Municipal Laws recommended that the present ordinances ordi-nances bo revised, llfty or more not now In the ordinance book bo placed there, etc., etc. Tho idea Is toget the book of ordinances into Intelligible and comprehensive shape. Tho council coun-cil decided for a revision. Wm. Q. Anderson, who runs an ex press wagon, asked that he ba granted that privilege without having to pay license. Ho urged a wound, received in war and Inability to perform hard labor as reasons for making this request. re-quest. This was granted. Waterniaster Peterson made certain recommendations as to a house to house canvass for Information regarding regard-ing water fixtures, and such like. The recommendations wore accepted. Committee on License was Instructed Instruct-ed to bring In at tho next meeting an ordinance covering request of Ilu tellers and Merchants. On motion of Evans tho Committee on Advertising was authorized to ad-rortlse ad-rortlse for advertising and publishing. |
