Show THE DOINGS AT WELLSVILLE I Wkllsvh.lk, April 18.--Onlho5th, a farewell party was given in the new hall in honor of James H. Archibald, who left on the fith to fill a mission to the Northwestern States. A program was rendered consisting of songs, and recitations and short speeches by some of the brethren, Including Mr. Archibald, Archi-bald, who spoke feelingly of the klhd ness of the good people of tho ward in turning out In largo numbers to bid him farewell. Bishop E. R. Owen, In behalf of the Wellsvllle people, presented pre-sented Mr. Archibald with a check for $105 to help him on his mission. Tho rest of the evening was spent In dancing. danc-ing. On the 11th, another farewell party was given In the pavilion, in honor of Alexander B. Maughau, who left on tho 15lh to fill a mission to Europe. A very pleasant time was spent In singing, sing-ing, dancing and speech making. As Urother Maughan Is one of tho stockholders stock-holders of the pavilion, the company made him a present of the proceeds of the parly which amounted to a very H nice sum. M On the evening or the nth, another H farewell party was given Brother H Maughan in tho hall, where another H tine piogram . was rendered. Short H speeches wcro made by Peter Maughan M Alexander Archibald, Alex Maughan, H and bishop Owen. In behalf of tho H good people of tho ward, Bishop Owen H presented Brother Maughan with a H chock for $110. H All the ciders that leave our ward H to 1111 a mission get from $100 to $125 H each before leaving. M This morning Evan Owen, father of H our bishop, died at his residence In H this town, after lingering for many H years in a feeble condition. jH Hyrum W. Maughan left Wellsvllle H on the 17th for Canada to mako that IH country his future home. H Wednesday evening, the Wellsvllle H Dramatic company gave a play in tho H hall for the benefit of two of our cldors H who will leave shortly to 1111 missions H to Europe. M |
