Show Peedlnc Chicken. The Oklahoma Experiment Station has recently issued a bulletin which reports a feeding experiment with chickens in which some interesting results re-sults were obtained. The object of the experiment was to determine the amount of digestible matter in Kafir corn and cowpeas when fed separately to chickens. The following summary from the bulletin gives the practical results: 1. Chickens digested Kafir corn and corn more completely when the grain was fed whole than when the meal was fed. 2 The Kafir corn and Kafir meal fed in this trial yielded but 2 per cent less total digestible matter than the corresponding corn products. 3. Kafir corn was a more suitable ration, considering only the relative amounts of growth-making and fat-forming fat-forming materials, for chickens than Kafir meal, corn or corn meal. 4. Cowpeas were digested reasonably reasona-bly well, and are desirable for growing grow-ing chickens and hens. But little gain In digestibility was secured by grinding grind-ing cowpeas. |
