Show NORTHWEST NOTES. A beet blight has attacked California Califor-nia beets and has resulted in a great shortage in the crop. Two Indians who held up L. H. The general hospital at the Presidio is to be enlarged to accommodate the extraordinary detachments of sick and wounded on the way there from the Philippines and China. Governor Richards of Wyoming has selected Miss Frances Warren, daughter daugh-ter of Senator F. E. Warren, to christen the monitor Wyoming, which will i launched at San Francisco on Sep- tember 8. Isaac Price, who claims to have embezzled em-bezzled 8200 from an electric light company com-pany in Syracuse, N Y., while acting as collector about eighteen months ago, has surrendered himself to San Francitco police. The party was composed of De Forest Richards and wife, J. Bartlett Richards aud wife, J. De Forest Richards, Rich-ards, Mrs. Turner, Mr. Burkank of Pittsfleld. Pa., and Miss Callahan of Dayton, Ohio. Sandiego Ortiz, a Mexican, who robbed rob-bed aud killed W. S. Moffittof Harris-I Harris-I burg, Ariz., has been captured. When charped with the crime he confessed and produced 8500 in cash and two checks which he had taken from his victim. Moffltt's head was mashed to a jelly with a drill. John Flon, a sheep-herder in the employ em-ploy of the Brown's Park Livestock company, Wyo., was drowned at Crouse's dam. The supposition is that while attempting to catch some young ducks he fell in. He was not missed until July 27, and his. body was not found for several days. A head-end eollision between two freight trains occurred at Sunol, the first station east of Sydney, Wyo.. last week. Both engines were demolished. The trainmen saved themselves by jumping. Trains were delayed eight hours because of the accident. It is said to be due to a mistake of the train :. T,i- at North Platte Robert B. Hall has been arrested at Sacramento, Cat, charged with having stolen large sums of money from farmers farm-ers in Omaha, for which he had ucted as collctor. He admits having taken the money and says he fled from Omaha Oma-ha to Cheyenne, where be started to enlist in the army and get out of the country. The arrest was made at the request of the chief of police of Chey-enne. Chey-enne.
