Show ITALY HAS WEAKENED. No Ultimatum Has Ileen Delivered to China. Rome, March IS. The Trlbuna asserts as-serts that Italy has not delivered an ultimatum to China. On tho contrary, the Italian government has disavowed the action of SIgnor Martlno regarding tho San Mun bay affair, and has recalled re-called him, confiding Italy's Interests to the Urltlsh minister at l'ekln until the successor of Martlno arrives there. The news of SIgnor Martlno's recall came as a complete surprise to tho public. It Is understood his note asking ask-ing China to re-accept the first Italian note was regarded by the Italian government gov-ernment as too conciliatory, but the general belief Is that China will Interpret Inter-pret the recall as a sign of weakness. Count Orgnl, tho Italian minister at Toklo, will bo appointed to succeed SIgnor Martlno. |
