George Gray. It is the first tlmo in tho history of tho state that thero Is an unquestionable senatorial sen-atorial vacancy, and owing to the precedent pre-cedent of the upper houso of congress In refusing to scat gubernatorial appointees ap-pointees after the legislature of a state has had an opportunity to elect, tho seat of Mr. Gray Will remain vacan1 until the general assembly of 1901 shall choose his successor. At the same time tho term of Senator Richard K, Kcnney will also expire, and It will therefore devolve upon the next legislature legis-lature to elect two senators. |
