Ono ot the largest brldgo contracts that has been awarded award-ed In many years has been let by tho receivers ot the Baltimore and Ohio railroad. In order to place tho lines west of the Ohio river In proper shape to handlo the heavy freight equipment that Is being used east of tho river the receivers found It necessary to rebuild re-build CI bridges between Ucnwood, W, Vn and Chicago. That tho structures might be rapidly pushed to completion comple-tion It was decided to divide tho work among three companies. Tho Youngs-town Youngs-town Drldgo Company of Youngstown will erect 31 bridges on the Central Ohio division between the Ohio river nnd Newark, Ohio; tho I'cncoyd Urldgo Works was awarded tho 11 bridges on tho Lake Krle division, Nownrk to Sandusky, nnd tho Kdgo Moor Drldgo Company of Wilmington, Del., will erect tho 9 bridges needed on the Chicago Chi-cago division. Tho total cost of these bridges Is In the neighborhood ot $300,-000 $300,-000 nnd It Is expected that all will be In placo by September. Nearly six thousand tons of steel will bo needed for tho, structures. |
