Wnrburton of tho Pennsylvania Pennsyl-vania volunteer battalion of artillery, n sworn statement of tho condition of refrigerated beef on board tho transport trans-port Manitoba, which transport was at Ponco from August 10 to 25. In tho courso of this statement Captain War-burton War-burton says: "I ate of tho bcof which tho transport Manitoba brought to Puerto Rico. It was served to tho ofllccrs' mess on tho United Htutrs transport Mississippi, which brought my command back to Now York, leaving Ponco Sept. 3 and arriving In New York Sept, 10, 1808. When I say I ato tho meat, I must qualify my statement by saying that I tried to cat tho' meat. It was so bad that it was Impossible to swallow it. In my opinion, tho meat was not good, nor was it fit for Issue. |
