An oppressive and destructive H wind, principally from tho southeast, M prevailed througliout most of tho week, M and continues. M Good progress was made in the liar- M vest fields, sinco tho character of tho M weatlio r has been favorable to the rapid H ripening of all grain. It is to bo regret- M ted that late sown grain crops shriveled. H somowhat owing to tho rapid process of H ripening, owing to the excessive heat, H in consequence of which disappoint- ' H ment is felt in some Becitons. Many H correspondents roport the harvest near" H l completed, and tho tin eshers making H satisfactory progress. Fall sown and H early sown grain that matured beforo H tho drouth, aro yielding according to H expectations, and tho quality is H superior. . .
