Show Colorado Beets, The Denver Kepublicau in speaking of the beet sugar industry of Logan county, Colo, says : "A movement has beon put on foot in favor of the euirar beet. Some years ago many were grown to test the adaptability of the soil of this region tu tlm growth of that variety of beet Some of the samples produced yielded above 18 per cent sugar. This year tho tests are being lriade on u more thoughtful and practicable plan. TJie Agricultural college at Fort Collins furnished a liberal lib-eral quanity of seed. An organization known as the Logan County Sugar Beet Growers' association was perfected by Mr, M. A. Lunn, a beet sugar expert of Nebraska. This gentleiron also imported im-ported the seed necessary to supply 40 farmers. Should the tests which are to bo made from these beets come up to the standard, the association will seek to establish the industry in this county on a permanent footing and erect a a factory t Sterling. The beets appear to be making a very promising growth. |
