Section 215. Maple sugar and maple syrup, four cents per pound; glucose or grape sugar, one and one-half cents per pound ; sugar cano in its natural state, or unmanufactured, twenty per cntum ad valorem. Section 211. Saccharine, one dollar and fifty cents per pound and ten per centum ad yalorem. Section 212. Sugar candy and all confectionary not specially provided for in this act, valued at fifteen coins per lb. or lees, and on sugars after being refined, when tinctured, colored or in any way adulterated, four cents per pound and fifteen per centum ad valorem; valued at more than fifteen cents per pound, fifteen per centum ad valorem. The weight and the value of the immediate coverings, other than tho outer packing or other covering, shall he included in the dutiable weight and tfie value of the meichnndise. The week ending August 2nd was the warmest so far this season. At several places throughout the Sta(e the temperature temper-ature reached the 100 mark on the 28th. Refreshing showeus occuned in many districts on the 2Uth and 30th, doing much good to the giowing coops, The warm weather lias ripened the grain rapidly, and in a week or ten days the most of it will be cut and stacked. Reports, as a rule, indicate that the yield of grain inmost districts will be muu'i below the usual aveiage of previous years. In portions of Garfield county a gread deal of the wheat was damaged hy the late fiost and will bo cut for hay. The second crop of lucorn Is'beingcut and the yield is repotted equal to the hist crop Corn and potatoes ard doing well, but sugar beets in some districts are not verypiomiaing. The fruit crop promises to be unusually large and profitable thta s ason. |
