Therefore it is very pleasing to the people of Utah to read of the manner in which the delegation was received by President Presi-dent Cleveland when the constitution constitu-tion was presented to him. Hi, words, which we commend, were as follows: "lam sure, gentlemen, gentle-men, that it affords me much pleasure to receive from your hands this copy of Utah's Constitution. Consti-tution. 1 congratulate you upon the outcome and upon the near approach of statehood for yotu I'ciritory. It will be my duty lo examine whether the constitution fulfills the requirements of the statute before issuing the proclamation procla-mation of admission. But the matter shall have my immediate consideration." |
