The floor manager was Mr. Jas. The committee of management manage-ment was Mrs. Dunkley, Mrs Hemstedt, Mrs. Steele, Mrs. Dr Uhl, Mrs. Lapish, and Mrs. Pomcroy. Tho wholo affair was a grand Bticccss both financially and socially. Among tho moat prominent promin-ent citizens present were tho Messrs. Wm. Grant, Dr. Addleman Jas. Chip-man Chip-man Senr., A. K. Thornton, J. Prybill of tho Independent, G. Greenwood, II. Judge Mercer called the meeting to order or-der after which Jos. Lapish was elected chairman nnd Jae. Chlpman Jr. secretary. secre-tary. Tho following speakers were introduced in-troduced to the meeting: W. II. King, Mr.Kellogg nnd W. II. Brown of Provo. Tho first speaker was Mr King who dwelt at length on tho tariff question. He was followed by W. H. Brown who expounded tho benefits that were to be derived from Democracy after which a fine discourse was given by Mr. Kellog who was greatly applauded. Many expressed a wish to hear him again. A Club was formed and the following officers appointed: J. Lapish Pre., Judge Mercer Vice-president, Jas. Chip-man Chip-man Jr. Sec. and Len Harrington Trcas. A committee was appointed to get the names of all who wished to join the Club. A grand gala day was enjoyed at the J.ako Refort, on Wednesday. The Provo Pro-vo steamboat was present, and every hour landed her freight nnd took on hoard n new load for a pleasant cruize for an hour at the rate of 25c. per bead and by what I could heor, was well patronized. Surely this, must bo a money-making business for the venture. Tho boat was only built a short time ago expressly for pleasure parties on the Utah Lake. It has a fair capacity of speed und in everyway much superior to the old steamboat that was used for tho samo purposo last year. Bathing, swiming and other amusements went on till the cvoning when all that wished had a chanco to turn the fantastic toe to tho music engaged for the occasion, tho dance was kept up to near midnight and altogether a good time was spent. Ir haa been suggsatcd by several citizens that in holding tho 4th July, Celebration that tho wholo threo settlements settle-ments American Fork, Lehi, and Tlca-sant Tlca-sant Grove should co-operate, and mako ono grand demonstration. Pleasant Grovo marching to tho Fork and falling Into proce3jion proceed to Lshi and tha threo mako the day onto he remembered. remem-bered. We bellevo this would bo a good idea, if the committees of the different settlements were to make some arrangements arrange-ments between them, and provide for the one grand object. Wo think that If borne-thing borne-thing of thii kind were done it would make a grand success of the national commemoration. An accident that might have been attended att-ended with moro serious consequences, happened ncarBattlecrcek last Monday. While tho men wcro going along on the hand car witli a number of steel mils for tho gang of men employed, somo projecting fish platcB throw tho car off tho track seriously Injuring ono man and bruising others.
