Show AS TO CLASS BI BILLS Some action should be taken by bythe bythe bythe the student body prohibiting the reckless reckless reckless reck reck- less contraction of debts by class or or- This is an evil which is affecting several activities right now Bills which were left unpaid last year by various classes have given the student body as a whole a bad name with several down town business business business busi busi- ness houses with the result that activity activity ac ac- ac- ac managers are having the far from agreeable experience of atoning for the sightedness short-sightedness of mismanagement mismanagement mismanagement of their predecessors One instance will serve to show shrew the state of affairs One of the lower rower 0 classes gave a dance last spring the refreshments for lor which were purchased from a prominent confectioner The bill was left 0 unpaid unpaid unpaid un un- paid and still remains unpaid Last year the confectioner in question was wasa a loyal supporter sup of the Chronicle This year he refuses to advertise with us for the reason that he is quite justly sore about the refreshment deal Illogical as this attitude might appear to us it is the position assumed assumed assumed as as- by all business men who have outstanding bills against any student organization It has become a sort of habit with lower classes to leave bills for the class to pay the following year ear If no one else suffered this would be a I matter for the classes to regulate but when it affects the whole school it is evidently time for the student body to step in The proper propel action would be to prohibit the lower classes from contracting debts of any kind without the approval of the A. A S. S UG U. U I U. U executive board or some committee commit commit- tee appointed by them and the upper upper upper up up- per classes should not be allowed to contract any debt without previously making arrangements for settlement which should be satisfactory to the business house concerned If some such provisions were made there would be less chance for misunderstanding misunderstanding misunderstanding standing and the unpleasant state of affairs which exists now would be avoided This is a matter which should receive receive re reo re- re immediate attention |
