Show veteran vetera n di dixie xie forest ranger will retire the last of this mon month th having reached the age for the retirement of forest rangers james 11 II baldwin st george will be retired february 29 20 completing more than thirty yeara pant service according to an announcement by forest supervisor visor blaine betenson of the dixie national forest dorest mr baldwin entered the forest service on oil the old fillmore national forest on october 6 5 1009 s assistant forest ranger and was assigned to duty at monroe later he be served for over oter four years as aa ranger in charge of uie the lake creek district of the uinta national forest at heber in 1025 1925 lie he came to dixie taking charge of the enterprise district and resided at efterp enterprise se in 1034 1934 he was assigned to the pine valley district of the dixie with headquarters at st george and la is in charge of this district at the present time since entering the forest service mr lit baldwin has been in charge of areas whose chief problems emS have been those of grazing and land management backed by an experience since youth in working with livestock and having a careful appreciation pre clation for the viewpoints of bof the stock stockman mani he has been successful la in working with users to effect progressive and helpful practices in bangt ran gt and land management in each of the important as aa sign ments that he be has held in recent years lie he hasteen has been devoted to a correlation of the problems of big game and those of tile the range the dixie division of the forest at present has a population of some deer many notable achievements have been made by ranger baldwin in the establishment of improvements so that the benefits of the resources of his district now extend to those who visit dixie ifor for recreation and sport as well as to those who use the district for range durpos es and timber extensive trails and modern campground facilities have been installed Install dd at pine valley and at oak grove now to be ba enjoyed each year by new roads and stations have been built and many developments ot of other kinds have been made for the benefit of tile the general public the many friends of mr baldwin and his fellow workers in the forest service express congratulations to him and sincere appreciation for the qualifications that he lias has shown in working out tho the developments that have been made for the enjoyment of many forest areat activities mr baldwin and his family will reside tit at monroe where he owns a home A successor to the position has not nol yet been selected the forest said ald |
